Today, so many networks are being connected to the Internet that it is dificult to determine how big the Internet really is. Hundreds of thousands of computer networks are connected to the Internet. It is estimated that the Internet is in over 135 countries, and is on all seven continents.
Although the National Science Foundation governed the rules and regulations regarding the Internet, today no one entity controls the Internet. Universities, governments, businesses, and corporations all use the Internet to supply information, and provide services.
